The technology base of moisture prevention coating agents is mostly used for plasma displays, which is one of the technologies we have developed over a long period of time.

The composition of moisture prevention coating agents is very complicated. For example, if you enhance the purity and adhesive strength, other properties and the preservation stability deteriorate. To improve a property, it is essential to understand all the properties and proceed with development through a trial and error process. It is our solid technology which has been developed by inheritance from superiors to subordinates, or from seniors to juniors.

Also, to develop a moisture prevention coating agent, the adhesiveness to the substrate, high purity (low impurity concentration) and low moisture permeability are essential properties. If one of these properties deteriorates, even metal cables which are coated may corrode in long use.

Challenge of an advanced field

Our moisture prevention coating agents have relatively quickly become one of our major product families based on our advanced technology. However, the requirements of our customers are increasing year after year, such as the short takt time and finer pitch of the process. To meet those requirements, I have conducted a number of examinations and experienced a series of errors.

I believe that we can solve the issues efficiently in the long run if we take a multifaceted approach by checking past screening data, and conducting a variety of examinations from various viewpoints instead of making efforts without guidance. Such an attitude would also be applicable to not only the development of a certain technology, but also the entire field of research and development.

By engaging in this technology development, I have had opportunities to be responsible for certain development projects from the time I was a newcomer. Based on this experience, I think I have learned spontaneously how to act on my own initiative since my youth.

My first mission as a salesperson

My first mission after I was assigned to the Sales Department was the adoption of moisture prevention coating agents by a client.

When I was a newcomer, I had little knowledge and experience regarding this technology and these products. Therefore, I deepened my understanding of the characteristics, process and quality of moisture prevention coating agents by accompanying the development personnel and attending meetings.

At the clients’ sites, I often gave presentations for field representatives as well as development personnel, and entered the clients’ lines to solve issues and perform examinations and testing. I think that these efforts resulted in the client’s confidence and favorable results.

As a sales person, I attempted to solve issues by not only grasping the current situation but also forecasting issues which might occur in future (corrosion, discrepancy from the process requested by clients, etc.), assuming factors (resin purity, moisture permeability, cause of cohesion of surface boundaries, application method, UV curing conditions, etc.) based on, etc.) based on phenomena and market trends, classifying issues into those to be tackled by sales personnel and others to be handled with the involvement of the development group, prioritizing those issues, and assigning roles.

As a result, I am often asked by clients to provide advice. This makes me feel that I am obtaining their confidence based on reliable technologies.

Moisture prevention coating agents which will never stop evolving constitute an important technology supporting electronic products such as plasma displays. By applying such technology, we are continuously engaging in development activities with the aim of finding the opportunity to create a new market.
